Tree Mulching at Centenary Field

Last Saturday (June 10th) our Climate & Nature practical conservation volunteer session involved mulching the saplings at Centenary Field.

Mulching saplings is vital in giving young trees the best chance of surviving hot summers, helping them to retain moisture and to hopefully grow into trees to be enjoyed for generations to come!

This session was a great success, with 6 volunteers + our Climate & Nature Officer managing to mulch all 300 saplings AND the trees in the community orchard in just over 2 hours! Amazing work, everyone!

We run free practical conservation volunteer sessions every 2nd Saturday of the month. If you are interested in getting involved, or if you would just like to find out more, consider signing up to our Climate & Nature Mailing List!
