Lesley, our wonderful volunteer who runs the Crochet & Knit Club, has provided the following information about the event:

“The theme for the yarn bomb is “Nature”. The display of yarn art will enhance and be in keeping with the wildlife garden.

Small crocheted, knitted or sewn items very much appreciated. These will be attached to the fence, for example as part of garlands. Items will not be placed on the ground or hang through the air to reduce risk of animal entrapment.

The display will be out in all weathers through the summer so durability important.

Colourful acrylic yarn recommended but not essential (wool yarn tends to sag when wet and cotton yarn takes along time to dry out).

There are plenty of free patterns on the internet to suit every skill level and yarn craft. If you are browsing crochet patterns beware the difference between UK and US abbreviations.

Choose a pattern of something bright and cheerful to suit your skill level, and above all, make sure it’s quick and easy to make!”
