Frampton Cotterell Parish Council. Hedgehog Heroes launch event lookback

Hedgehog Heroes Launch Event Lookback

On Friday the 2nd of June, in collaboration with Westerleigh Parish Council, Frampton Cotterell Nature Group, and Yate Hedgehog Rescue, Frampton Cotterell Parish Council hosted our Hedgehog Heroes Launch Event!

The event was a great success with people of all ages, with about 40 people attending. We were able to host an interesting and informative talk on hedgehogs from Yate Hedgehog Rescue, who also brought along a hedgehog skeleton for exhibition. There was also a hedgehog themed tombola with a lovely selection of hedgehog themed prizes, including some wonderful fabric hedgehogs crafted and donated by our very own wonderful Crochet & Knit Club members, and a beautiful painting of a hedgehog kindly donated by brilliant local artist, Nicola Stone.

We were also excited to present the “Frampton Cotterell Hedgehog Cake Bake Off” – a competition to see who could bake the best hedgehog cake! All of our entries were fantastic, but there could only be one winner, who was crowned our Star Hedgehog Cake Baker and presented with a certificate and grand prize of a hedgehog house for her garden!

Proceeds from the tombola were donated to Frampton Cotterell Nature, and proceeds from refreshments were donated to Yate Hedgehog Rescue.

This event was designed to launch our “Hedgehog Heroes” project, in collaboration with other parish councils and South Gloucestershire Council. This project aims to help protect endangered local hedgehogs and help educate local people on what we can all do to help hedgehogs!
