A crowd of people stand in the sunny Park to listen to Councillor Linda Williams give her speech to open the tennis courts.

Tennis Courts Opening Event Gallery

On Saturday the 8th of June, Frampton Cotterell Parish Council held an official opening ceremony to celebrate the re-opening of the newly refurbished tennis courts at The Park, School Road.

The event saw a lovely turn out, with people of all ages (and a few dogs!) joining parish councillors Linda Williams, Tristan Clarke, Alan Lankester, and Johnathan Trollope for some fine tennis fun!

For the two-hour duration of the event, we opened up the courts for free tennis sessions, including setting up smaller “mini courts” with child-sized nets for our younger parishioners to play on. We also brought along a swing ball set, which was the source of a lot of entertainment – especially when Minnie the dog decided to join in!

After everyone had tired themselves out with tennis, the parish council provided refreshments, including cold drinks, tennis-ball cupcakes, strawberries and cream, and chocolate tennis racket lollies.

The event also marked the hand-in deadline for our “Tennis Colouring Competition”, which had some great prizes, including a free Annual Household Membership pass for the tennis courts!

For the “main event” we had an official ceremonial opening of the courts. Parish Council Chair, Councillor Linda Williams, gave a lovely speech to our guests, and then cut a huge golden ribbon across the entrance gate, officially opening the tennis courts!

Thank you to everyone who came along on the day.

We would especially like to thank James Deem from the LTA, and the helpful people who helped council staff dismantle the troublesome gazebo at the end of the event!

Annual Household Membership

During this opening ceremony, we also announced our new Annual Household Membership for the tennis courts.

This membership costs only £35, and provides the account holder and up to seven members of their household with 5 hours of tennis sessions per week for 12 months! To sign up to an Annual Household Membership, please visit our ClubSpark Tennis Annual Pass page.

Volunteer Tennis Activators

We also shared information about volunteering as a Tennis Activator – no experience needed and full training will be given to anyone who wants to help facilitate free tennis sessions in Frampton Cotterell. If you are interested, we would love for you to get in touch!
