Update on Badminton Road Roadworks

South Gloucestershire Council’s Highway Improvements Team have released the following updates regarding the roadworks currently underway on the Badminton Road (A432):

“We are making good progress on work to separate cyclists from traffic between Yate and the A4174 Ring Road.

“Cycle lanes are being added to both sides of the A432 Badminton Road from Nibley Lane to Coalpit Heath. We are constructing an improved cycle lane which will be at a higher level than the existing road surface. The existing on-carriageway cycle facilities are well below the standards set out in the Government’s Local Transport Note and it’s important to keep all road users safe.

“The improved cycle lane aims to create a convenient and useable facility for cyclists already using this route and people who are new to cycling and/or seeking an alternative to driving.

“The lanes of Badminton Road have been narrowed to allow traffic to continue through the works without the need to use temporary traffic signals. The narrow lanes also help to keep workers safe.  The speed limit for this section of road has also been reduced and the work will cause some delays to traffic.

“Work at this site is expected to take around five months with a completion date of May/June 2022. The duration of works is subject to change and could be delayed due to adverse weather conditions or additional repairs. We will provide updates when needed.

A public consultation about the cycle lanes was carried out and you can visit our Public Consultations Page for more information about the scheme.”
