Hedgehog Heroes Here!
The Hedgehog Heroes Here is a volunteer group that works in collaboration with Frampton Cotterell and Westerleigh & Coalpit Heath parish councils.
Made up of local people with a passion for nature, the Hedgehog Heroes work together with parish councils and local volunteers to find ways to raise awareness and protect hedgehogs in the local area. By coming up with ideas for projects, plans and campaigns and by offering informed feedback and advice, the Hedgehog Heroes Here working group is able to support the parish council in their decision- and policy-making processes.
The Hedgehog Heroes help run events throughout the year, including arranging or giving talks and lectures on local nature, organising and volunteering at our popular Half-Term Hedgehog Heroes activity afternoons for kids, and helping to create our new Hedgehog Watch wildlife initiative.
With the help of the Hedgehog Heroes, Frampton Cotterell Parish Council works to raise awareness of the threats faced by hedgehogs, and continues in our efforts towards protecting them.

Hedgehog Watch
In collaboration with Westerleigh & Coalpit Heath parish council and Frampton Cotterell Parish Council, the Hedgehog Heroes invite you to get involved with our new wildlife initiative: Hedgehog Watch!
By taking part in our Hedgehog Watch, you can help the Hedgehog Heroes collect important data on local hedgehogs. The information you provide here will be used by the Hedgehog Heroes and local parish councils to help set targets and develop action plans for protecting hedgehogs from the threat of extinction. We want to understand where our remaining local hedgehog populations are, so that we can target our efforts to create hedgehog highways and to encourage more people living in local hedgehog hotspots to take action.
To get involved, all you need to do is be on the look out for hedgehogs and then send us your findings! We are looking for information on:
- The location of the hedgehog;
- The date you saw the hedgehog;
- Whether the hedgehog was alive – and if not, whether it was roadkill;
- Any other information you think might be useful!
Share your findings on our online Hedgehog Watch form or by emailing your notes to wildlife@framptoncotterell-pc.gov.uk.
