Thank you to everyone who attended our fundraiser event on Saturday 5th April 2025 in support of our Estates & Amenities Officer, Steve, as he raises money for the Ben Saunders Foundation charity.
Steve will be running his first London Marathon at the end of April in support for this worthy foundation which supports young people affected by cancer, and their families.
Our fundraiser event was lots of fun – and thanks to the humbling generosity of our guests, it was also an incredible success!
We would like to take a moment to particularly thank the wonderful crafters from our Crochet & Knit Club who ran stalls selling their gorgeous works of fibre art, the lovely ladies who baked some brilliant cakes for the event, and everyone who donated items for our charity auction and tombola. This generosity helped make this event possible.
Thanks to everyone involved, we were able to help Steve raise a grand total of £705.42 for the Ben Saunders Foundation during this fundraising event.
Combined with the money raised from our Coffee & Cake Morning donations, Steve now has a running total of £903.11 raised. Fantastic!
About this event, Steve said,
“I am truly humbled by the generosity of the staff and volunteers that helped on Saturday and all those that attended and purchased, donated and listened to my proper Bristolian tones at the auction! I am speechless regarding the event Saturday and the generosity of all those that donated items for the tombola and auction, all those that made cakes for free, all the volunteers, crafters and my colleagues that helped on the day. Not forgetting all those that donated and bought goods from the stalls to contribute to this fantastic total.

It is less than 3 weeks until Marathon day now and I have finally finished my big runs – 18 miles Sunday! I still have 3 weeks of my training plan to follow, so you will still hear lots from me yet…
