One of our Parish Councillors, Linda Williams, has taken a great picture of what appears to be Elf Cup Fungus whilst out on the Frome Valley Walkway.
Why “Elf” cup? Old tales from Europe told of elves drinking water from these cup-shaped fungi!
Sometimes called Scarlet elf cups, this fungus is bright and colourful and loves old decaying sticks and damp spots in woodland areas. Learn more from the Woodland Trust!
