It’s time again for the Frampton Cotterell BioBlitz!
As part of the now international City Nature Challenge, our local BioBlitz invites the residents of Frampton Cotterell to get outside and record local nature.
The City Nature Challenge helps you to learn more about the wildlife where you live, whilst contributing to both local and global conservation efforts. By taking part, you can play a role in protecting nature in Frampton Cotterell and the wider region, as well as providing data which may help inform plans for tackling the climate & ecology emergencies in the UK and around the world.
During last year’s 4-day City Nature Challenge (2024), over 2.4 million wildlife records were submitted by 690 cities across the world – and 5,876 of those observations came from the West of England / Bristol & Bath! Do you think you can help us beat last year’s total?
Get Involved
Can’t tell your hawks from your hawkmoths, your blackcaps from your inkcaps, or pine trees from pine martens? No need to worry, you don’t need to be an expert to take part. The iNaturalist app will help you identify what you’ve found, and a community of wildlife enthusiasts will work together to confirm the exact species.
And you don’t have to spend hours exploring far and wide (unless you want to!). You can share your wildlife sightings from your windows at home, your garden, at your local parks, or even village, town or city streets.
It couldn’t be easier to be a Citizen Scientist!
To join in with the City Nature Challenge, simply:
- Download the iNaturalist app,
- Take a photo of the nature you find,
- Upload your photo to share!
