Accessibility Statement

Accessibility Statement

This accessibility statement applies to the Frampton Cotterell Parish Council website.

Accessibility

This website is managed by Frampton Cotterell Parish Council and developed by NetWise. The aim of both parties is to make the website accessible to as many people as possible. For example, that means you should be able to:

  • change colours, contrast levels and fonts;
  • zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen;
  • navigate most of the website using just a keyboard;
  • navigate most of the website using speech recognition software;
  • listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver);
  •  Alternate text on images.

We also do our best to avoid jargon, and to keep our text simple and clear to understand.

AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.

Microsoft published this helpful Windows keyboard navigation shortcuts guide, which can help you to navigate the site using just your keyboard.

If you use Apple, this Apple keyboard navigation guide can help you use this feature on our site.

What we’re doing to improve accessibility

Our website developer, NetWise, has developed their V2 theme with accessibility as a paramount consideration. All of their websites, including this one, are compliant with the WCAG 2.1 accessibility criteria once development has been completed. NetWise also advises on ways to remain compliant on an ongoing basis.

Non-accessible Content

We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible:

  • most older PDF documents are not fully accessible to screen reader software;
  • some of our online forms are difficult to navigate using just a keyboard.
  • some of our legacy images do not yet have alternate text. All images added since 2021 have alt. text as standard. We are working on updating all older images to have alt. text, but this is an ongoing process.

We are continually working to improve accessibility on our website. We welcome suggestions for improvement.
